Administrator Course

This two day course is for Systems Administrators, Technical Support or other people installing, configuring and supporting the Total Traffic Control product. Attendees should have a sound background in Network Administration, an appreciation of Microsoft SQL and grounding in IT Security issues.

Agenda

• Overview – Architecture and modes of operation
• Pre Installation – Hardware and software requirements, server and client preparation
• Installation – Set-up process and post install tasks
• Configuration – Basic system configuration settings
• Objects – Including Web Filter, Spam Blocker, Firewall, Traffic Classification, Priority & Limit
• Reports – Using reports to manage users, hardware & software and network traffic
• Maintenance - Tasks to ensure software and data is maintained properly
• Security Agent – Installing and configuring the TTC agent

After completing this course delegates will be able to install, configure, administer and maintain the TTC system. A self-paced exam will be given out at the end of the course and successful delegates will receive a Lightspeed accreditation certificate.

 Advanced Course

Total Traffic control is an extremely powerful and comprehensive product. While it sets new standards for ease of use, even experienced administrators often find a new situation will mean they are using the products in new ways or using new features they are not familiar with. This two day advanced course will take experienced users to the next level and show them how to get even more out of this unique product.

Agenda

• Modes of Operation – When and how to use Passive, Transparent and Routing Modes
• Redundancy – How to design and implement a failsafe gateway that includes TTC
• Spam – How to get the most out of the Spam Mail Blocker object
• Firewall – How to configure the TTC firewall from scratch or migrate rules from other systems
• Policies – How to design and implement comprehensive integrated policies
• Bandwidth – How to use the CBQ, Filter, Flow and Branching objects for packet shaping
• Database – How TTC stores and updates data, and how to make the data work for you
• Security Agent – How to manage updates and use application control for zero hour protection

This course will include a conference call directly with R&D in California. Ask questions directly to the guys who write the code and get unique insights into the inner workings of the product. This course is only available to people who have already been on a TTC course or who have at least two years practical experience with the product.
